Service · General contractor or specialty subcontractor
Site servicing, grading, asphalt, concrete pavement, retaining walls, accessibility ramps and hardscape. The work that happens outside the building envelope — done to municipal standards across the GTA. Hire us as the GC, or as the specialty trade on someone else's project.
Civil work is everything between the public road and the building. Servicing — water, sewer, storm — into the property. Grading and drainage so water moves where you want it. Asphalt and concrete pavement, parking lots, sidewalks, accessibility ramps, curbs. Retaining walls, segmental block walls, hardscape. AODA-compliant ramps and barrier-free path-of-travel work that's required on most renovations now.
The work is municipal-standards driven — OPSS specifications for road and pavement, City of Toronto Standard Drawings for servicing, AODA Built Environment standards for accessibility. Permits run through Right-of-Way, Engineering Services and (for accessibility) Toronto Building. Coordination with utility companies (Toronto Water, Enbridge, Toronto Hydro) is the work as much as the trenching is.
Civil work runs on permits and inspections. We carry both.
Civil work shows up in two contractual shapes.
On civil-led projects — a parking lot rebuild, an exterior accessibility upgrade, a site servicing replacement — we run the whole project. Permits, utilities, traffic management, paving, accessibility certification, restoration. One contract end-to-end.
When a building project includes site work but is being run by another GC, we bid as the civil sub. Site servicing, paving, retaining walls, AODA ramps — under the lead GC's permit and contract. Common on commercial renovations, school-board work and industrial expansions.
