An old paper factory in Newmarket is currently home to a charity and this project was a perfect example of space well used. The project consisted of building a crossfit fitness facility, administrative offices for the charity, a jobs program educational facility, barrier free washrooms and showers for the members, complete with a full kitchen. 10,000 sq.ft of space to house Newmarket’s new Steps Center for people battling addiction.
Our job started with a 60ft trench that would connect the sanitation of the new washrooms and showers. We then converted the existing 2 washrooms into barrier free washrooms, brand new classroom, a social ballroom for private functions, a brand new IKEA kitchen, and a complete restoration of the existing offices(which needed a lotta love). We also extended the upstairs mezzanine and build 2 new offices and a balcony overlooking the ballroom floor.
What was special about this project was the amount of detail that went into every aspect, especially the custom made floating ceiling lights, completely LED. They were built by hand by our team consisting of custom aluminum mesh grid and wood frame which housed the LED fixtures and spots. The entire 2000 sq.ft room was lit up with less than 500W. Previously they had over 20 T12 2-lamp fixtures which emitted a combined 4000W of electricity. Great savings!
